Out of the Box – Alchris Audio

Our ‘Out of the Box’ Series features companies who might slip through the net from time to time. Companies with something more than hot air, who make loudspeakers but make them with a rare passion that drives them and shapes the products they design and build.

When did you start the company?

Alchris Audio was founded in October 2020. The company is based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire where everything is designed and manufactured in our own workshops.

What makes your loudspeakers different to other brands?

Care and attention to detail are what sets Alchris Audio apart. We use high quality parts with close tolerance to achieve the sound we are looking for. Good quality real wood veneers for the cabinet finishes and internal bracing and damping for the cabinet structure to ensure the selected drivers perform at their very best. All our speakers use the unique fully floating baffle system which isolates the baffle from the cabinet. This prevents unwanted resonance.

What challenges do you face in making and selling loudspeakers?

Our main challenge remains matching our customers perceived needs to the correct speakers. We welcome questions around performance in differing sized rooms, the speakers suitability to work with customers existing equipment and always offer honest answers. A satisfied, happy customer is our ultimate goal.
The resurgence of Hi-Fi shows also gives us the opportunity to showcase our products to potential customers and answer questions face-to-face.

Where do you hope the company will be in five or ten years?

Our aim is that Alchris Audio remains the small friendly company it has always been. We enjoy the interaction and personal service we bring to customers – something we feel can get overlooked with a larger company.

Customer satisfaction is important to us – we deliver our larger speakers with set-up included if required.
