Introducing a new podcast: “I Suppose a Podcast is out of the Question

Introducing a new podcast, “I Suppose a Podcast is out of the Question!”, a rolling dialogue between Tim Staffell and Mick O’Gorman, both early years baby boomers.

Tim Staffell, English veteran Rock musician, visual artist, model maker and designer, started a school band with Brian May. Later Tim and Brian started a band called 1984 and when it collapsed, they recruited Roger Taylor to form Smile. Tim’s departure from Smile to join a venture with Irish musician Jonathan Kelly (in his Band Humpy Bong) is immortalised in the first scene of the film Bohemian Rhapsody. Tim, an art college student, went forward in movies and TV and is best known as the animator of the first Thomas the Tank Engine series. He continues to this day gigging with his band and as a solo musician.

Mick O’Gorman, son of John O’Gorman, one of the most highly acclaimed film make-up artists of the 1960s, studied at TCD. He drove Irish pop solo artist Jon Ledingham, later called Jonathan Kelly and moving to London tour managed Jon’s band OUTSIDE. With the demise of the band, he bought the sound equipment, going on to provide the sound a Don McLean sold out GB Tour, The Damned, Linda Thompson, Mary O’Hara and more, most particularly he began a ten year working relationship with the Chieftains as Sound engineer and Tour manager. Moving forward, now based in Ireland, his company Mikam Sound provided Live audience sound for the three consecutive Eurovision Song Contests that were hosted in Ireland, from that, he became and to this day is (proudly)the Sound designer for Riverdance The Show.

Both Tim and Mick were around for the  1960s formative years of the English rock scene and in the first episode of the podcast, “BEGINNINGS!”, they muse on that time…..
