November 8, 2023 – It feels like the team at Cyrus have been very busy this year, with a number of recent product launches, so it comes as no surprise to announce the arrival of brand-new stereo power amplifiers for both the XR and Classic ranges.
With ground-up engineering, these new Class A/B stereo amplifiers have a lower noise floor than previous power amps from Cyrus, allowing them to retain more of the fine details, but with high current drive to cater for more demanding loudspeaker loads.
With a power output of 2×110 watts into 6 Ω, the wideband power amplifier of the Power-XR responds from D.C. to beyond 100kHz and the Classic POWER responds from D.C. to beyond 50kHz, ensuring ruler flat frequency response and keeping any undesirable phase shifts out of the audio band. With a generous, over-specified power supply these new power amplifiers are very capable of reproducing the scale and drama of the musical performance.
We caught up with Ceri Williamson, Head of R&D at Cyrus. “These new amplifiers represent the very latest in power amplifier design knowledge and have been designed with the same topology as the Cyrus integrated products to ensure a perfect match of sonic signatures, especially in systems where bi-amping is employed.”
The Power-XR is priced in the UK at £2995 and the Classic POWER at £2395. Both products are now available to pre-order, with deliveries expected from the beginning of December.
