Heart-Friendly Hi-Fi

Heart-Friendly Hi-Fi

Every new audio product can come with a legacy of the product it replaces. Audiophiles are a fickle bunch at times, and we can sometimes box-swap our way through an endless stream of devices in the seemingly impossible task of finding that perfect piece of stereo equipment. Not all of that entire backlog of products ends up being traded in for the latest new player or speaker, and almost all of us have a few boxes of top-notch audio collecting dust in the attic. If you live in the UK at least, here’s what you should do with those past masters.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture & Electrical stores are urgently appealing to audio enthusiasts to donate any of their unused technology; including hi-fi separates, loudspeakers, integrated systems, MP3 players, tablets, and headphones to their local store. These can be resold and gain a new life with a new owner, providing valuable funds for the fight for every heartbeat at the same time.

Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer and last year BHF shops raised over £31 million to help beat heart disease. Donations, which are vital to the charity, are desperately needed so that BHF researchers can continue their relentless search for breakthroughs.

Chris Hull, BHF Field Operations Manager for Furniture & Electrical stores, says: “We’re reaching out to audio and music tech lovers as we’re in urgent need of hi-fis, speakers, stereos, tablets, MP3 players and all other accessories.

“As technology moves on so quickly nowadays people are often left with equipment they no longer want or need. Instead of this taking up unnecessary space in your house, why not help the BHF fund life-saving research and donate your unused items today?”

The BHF have over 170 Furniture & Electricals stores across the UK so you can visit your local store to make a donation. The BHF will also pick up products for free (although you might want to let them know just how heavy a Krell amplifier really is if you are feeling exceptionally generous). Call 0800 915 3000 to arrange a free collection, or book online at  bhf.org.uk/free. BHF Furniture & Electrical stores also welcome donations of sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining tables, TVs and fridges. Smaller items such as CDs and DVDs can be donated to BHF shops.

To find out where your nearest BHF Furniture & Electrical store is located visit bhf.org.uk/shops.

Please make a donation. All of us have lost someone to heart disease and we are all collectors, often with surplus equipment. We can make a difference.
